What I’m Crunching — January 14, 2024

Book I’m Reading

This week, we launched a new strategy team at SonSet focused on mobilization – finding and recruiting staff members to join our team. The team will focus on generating new approaches to mobilization, prototyping and piloting these ideas within our team, and then rolling them out to the broader team at SonSet.

This book has been so helpful as we’ve been formulating this team’s approach. Rumelt highlights that a good strategy has a kernel at its core. This kernel is made up of three things:

  • Diagnosis of the challenge to be overcome (in our case, adding more staff to our team at SonSet)
  • A guiding policy for dealing with the challenge (this newly launched team is part of our guiding policy)
  • A set of coherent actions designed to carry out the guiding policy (the team will be coming up with these actions in the coming weeks)

Books are only as good as the insights gleaned from them and applied. I’m committed to gleaning and applying more from the high-quality books on my reading list in 2024.

Podcasts I’m Listening To

I’m following this new GPT Store from OpenAI. Very interesting. It makes a premium subscription to ChatGPT even more appealing.

This opens up the possibility of creating your own ChatGPTs, enabling you to use AI to carry out specific workflows.

Andreessen is in rare form here. Lots of good value to absorb in this one.
