What I’m Crunching — April 16, 2023

Book I’m Reading

This autobiography reads like a narrative and it moves quickly. I read most of it on two flights. It’s focused on how Dell founded and built Dell Computer Corporation. I’m thoroughly enjoying it.

Dell moves back and forth between the early days of the company and much more recent developments and growth. I particularly enjoyed the recounting of Carl Icahn’s nearly successful hostile takeover bid. In the end, Icahn lost, and Dell relishes that fact (as he should).

Kevin DeYoung writes this as a book review of Collin Hansen’s latest book: Timothy Keller:
His Spiritual and Intellectual Formation

“This book is not meant to be a traditional academic biography, replete with secondary sources and intent on evaluating Keller’s ideas, his strengths, his weaknesses, and his place in the larger cultural and ecclesiastical trends of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Instead, the book draws on interviews with its subject, and with his friends and family, to create a close-up portrait of Keller as an individual.”

Podcast I’m Listening To

The AI Breakdown is one of NLW’s newest shows. I’ve shared The Breakdown on What I’m Crunching before.

I listen to The Breakdown every day and it’s the best daily macro-focused digital-asset-inclusive podcast I’ve found thus far.

This week, I especially enjoyed the episode from April 13: 5 Ways AutoGPT is Already Being Used.
