I’ve been part of a new leadership development effort at the church my family is part of. A group of about 12 guys are going through this book by Malphurs. It’s been valuable, not just in what I’m gleaning from the book, but also in the deepening relationships among the guys in the group.

God is showing me that just as he builds and balances his church with congregants who have unique characteristics in the categories of styles, gifts, approaches, and spiritual gifts, he constructs leadership teams in the same way.

I meet bi-weekly with a board-certified coach who is helping me develop as a leader. He is generously sharing his wisdom and experience with me and God is using him to knock off some of my rough edges.

Book I’m Reading Bird has produced a thorough work here; the audiobook edition was gripping. I am now more informed about Oppenheimer the man: what drove him (according to his writings), what he produced, and how he thought. This is the first material I’ve read on Oppenheimer, the scientist who led the Los Alamos teams of scientists in developing the atomic bomb. This biography has good ratings on Goodreads, so I thought I’d try it. Oppenheimer was a…complicated human being.

This one was given to me while attending the OneAccord conference in North Carolina in October. So far, it’s excellent. I’ve learned several counter-intuitive ideas so far, like this one: “The donor who just gave is the most likely donor to give again shortly thereafter.”

God gets His work done using the funding of His people. It is a privilege to invite people into His work through giving!
