This short book has been a help to me. It’s well-formulated and sensible. Zinsser argues that the best way to learn something, anything, is to write about it.

It’s impossible to write seriously on a subject without thinking deeply about it. Zinsser delves into several examples of good writing from authors: how they assemble their arguments and information, describe the subject(s) in question, and bring the readers into a narrative through their writing.

These are skills I’m working to develop.

After finishing Theodore Rex, the second book in a biographical trilogy on Theodore Roosevelt by Edmund Morris, I had to move immediately to the third one. From Goodreads:

President Roosevelt was the right man for this time in the life of the United States of America. I’m reminded that men like this aren’t borne out of easy times, but hard times. We can wish for more men like this, but do we wish for the times that create them?

This book is required reading during phase three of my biblical counseling certification process. It has been good; not amazing, but good.

So far, it’s reminding me of the basics of true change. The gospel, and the power of God unleashed through it, is core to true, lasting change.

The first Red Rising book was excellent, and now I’m into the second. I like it as much as I liked the first.

It’s an interesting combination of Hunger Games and Ender’s Game.

This is the second book of a trilogy on the 26th President of the United States of America.

I was asked recently if I could talk to any person in history, who would it be. After nearly completing this book, I answered quickly with “Theodore Roosevelt.”

He was on another level; a man with grit and toughness on the level of present-day Navy Seals. But he wasn’t a meathead. He was well-read and polished. Not only was he tough, he had incredible political acumen. Living with boundless energy, he accomplished more for the USA than most other Presidents, even up to the present day.
