Since Good Strategy Bad Strategy was so good, I decided to check out The Crux. It is even better. Rumelt brings an unparalleled clarity to the strategic planning process. He demystifies strategy, focusing the reader in on the essentials. Defining the “crux” of the challenge(s) that must be solved is the core of all great strategies.

Here’s another great little booklet I’m reading for my biblical counseling certification. Newheiser is an excellent counselor with decades of experience. Nearly every page of my Kindle version has highlights and notes!

This week I finished this excellent beginning to a widely-read trilogy. Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn Saga has received rave reviews. I’d highly recommend this one.

As I’ve posted before, I’m in the process of becoming a biblical counselor through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors. I’m nearly halfway through phase three which includes 50 supervised counseling sessions. I aim to be able to counsel folks at my church and volunteer with a solid biblical counseling center about 15 minutes from where I live.
Phase three also includes the required reading of 14 books and booklets and this one is packed full of Scriptural truth and practical suggestions for married couples. It’s been especially helpful to me as I’m counseling a man right now through some personal and marital struggles.
