Why is it that gradual changes aren’t easily observed when we frequently check for them, but if we stop checking for a period of time, and then come back and look, the change is clearly visible?

This one was given to me while attending the OneAccord conference in North Carolina in October. So far, it’s excellent. I’ve learned several counter-intuitive ideas so far, like this one: “The donor who just gave is the most likely donor to give again shortly thereafter.”
