Devotional Thought – Conquerors

Transcript:

Cody H. –

Well folks, we are conquerors.

We are overcomers.

Do we realize that in Christ, specifically because of what he did a little under 2,000 years ago yesterday, we are conquerors?

So, this will be simple today and, at the risk of it being an imbalanced devotional, I want to focus exclusively on this idea that we are overcomers.

I want to read a few Scriptures that describe who we are as overcomers, as conquerors through Christ, and what Christ tells us we will receive as conquerors.

I’m not going to list any of the references, but I’m sure you’ll recognize some of these.

“Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written:

“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

“To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.”

“For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome, because everyone born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith. Who then overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.”

“The one who conquers will not be hurt by the second death.”

“I am writing to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one.”

“To the one who conquers I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, with a new name written on the stone that no one knows except the one who receives it.”

“Only hold fast what you have until I come. The one who conquers and who keeps my works until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron, as when earthen pots are broken in pieces, even as I myself have received authority from my Father. And I will give him the morning star.”

“Those who conquer will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children.”

Are we living like we are conquerors? Are we living like we are overcomers? Are we timid? Are we hesitant? Do we hold back when we know we have the victory?

Jesus is the ultimate conqueror. Are we allowing his conquering Spirit, the Holy Spirit of God to live through us?
