What I’m Crunching — May 11, 2025

Book I’m Reading

I finished this one this week. Great little book with practical insight into helping those you’re counseling overcome anger in their lives. From the Goodreads summary:

Anger is widespread; it is even a major problem among professing Christians. While people express anger in different ways, controlling it is a challenge for each of us. Some feel powerless as anger rises. Others try to justify themselves. The question that must be addressed is how a sinfully angry person can become a person of grace. This mini-book provides the answer and gives us hope by directing our attention to the power of Christ to transform angry people into gracious people.

Video I’m Watching

Metaplanet Madness: Episode 1

I’ve watched the team at Metaplanet for months now and continue to be impressed by the disciplined execution of their Bitcoin acquisition strategy. They’ll never catch Strategy (who has >555k BTC), but they’re adding to their stack at a much faster rate, and their stock price reflects that.

On Bitcoin

A niche within a niche is the topic of Bitcoin Treasury Companies (BTC). I’ve written previously about Michael Saylor and his company, Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy). Strategy is the first BTC. There are now others. Semler Scientific (SMLR), Kulr Technology (KULR), and Metaplanet (OTC:MTPLF), to name a few. Actually, >70 publicly listed companies now have Bitcoin on their balance sheet.

This week I watched the livestreamed Strategy World conference put on by Strategy to highlight other BTCs and educate the traditional finance world on the corporate Bitcoin treasury strategy. This is a new and exciting area that holds much potential if one believes Bitcoin will become the foundation of the new global financial system. I believe it will.

The closest analog to the present day is land, specifically land that the most influential cities of the world are built on. You can’t move land. You can only build on it, and many have, generating staggering wealth and promoting human flourishing (along with all of the negatives that come with cramming millions of people into a small space). Bitcoin will become what the financial world of the future is built on.

The world is going digital, and has been for decades. The financial world is lagging. But Bitcoin will be the bridge from traditional finance to the era of digital capital. Of course, this transformation won’t happen overnight, and there are still adoption hurdles to consider, but this is why there remains a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for investors who can see Bitcoin for what it is, then take a calculated risk.
