Book I'm Reading

I continued in this book this week as our leadership team at church is reading it together. It’s gripping and practical.

Various life situations I encounter constantly remind me of the lessons in this book. Leadership is service. Leadership is the single most important factor in forming effective teams. Observers of ineffective teams, teams who don’t accomplish their mission, can trace the failure back to the leader.

Substack I'm Reading

The Running of the Bulltards

This Substack is written by an anonymous investor and the name “James Bulltard” comes from one of the former Fed Governors, James Bullard.

I’ve enjoyed investing and participating in markets for many years. One recent documented phenomenon is that equity markets are driven by the derivatives market. Options drive equities.

This makes sense when you understand the dynamics of the derivatives market.

This substack author highlights unusual and notable options flow and documents it in a database that he makes accessible to readers. He then looks at the charts of these equities and gives helpful analysis on them. Stocks with bullish options flow and healthy price action are great stocks to own. Conversely, stocks with bearish options flow and unhealthy price action should be avoided.

There are several publicly available posts on his Substack. Check them out if this piques your interest.

On Bitcoin

Bitcoin has been trading in a range for the last four weeks. This week it ran through the 8EMA, bumped into the 10EMA, and was rejected. Not good. It’s just below the 8EMA and a weekly close above it would be a bullish signal.

Still, the price action remains far from encouraging.

On Monday, Strategy ($MSTR) announced their 102nd purchase of Bitcoin, scooping up 17,994 BTC. This is over five times the weekly supply being mined. It should be obvious: this kind of buying can’t continue forever without seeing the price action improve dramatically.
